Hour Building

This is the very fun part of flight training. Hour building. Now that you have your PPL, it’s time to build up around 150 hours of solo flight to gain some experience.

This can be done in an aircraft you rent from your flight school, or your aircraft if you’re fortunate to have one.

Be sure to check out our aircraft page here to find yourself an aircraft to rent or purchase!

As you can imagine, there are some requirements set by the CAA regarding your hour building. During this time you must complete the following:

  • 20 Hours cross-country flight time as pilot-in-command
  • A VFR cross-country flight of at least 540KM (300NM) which includes full stop landings at 2 aerodromes different to the departure
